The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions. The YRDSB implemented Working From Home Guidelines to facilitate this work option.

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, collective agreements and applicable legislation,

responsible for processing legislated and non-legislated leaves of absence, deferred salary plans,

exchanges, secondments and facilitating workshops.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide advice and guidance to employees regarding various legislative leaves of absence.

To respond to direct inquiries, concerns and requests regarding Board approved leaves.

Validate legislated leaves and correspond with employees for legislated and non-legislative leave

confirmation and details.

To process legislated and Board approved leaves such as pregnancy, parental/adoption, infant/child

care, compassionate care, secondments and deferred salary plans.

To process and calculate Long Term Disability benefit continuation for employees on approved

legislative and non-legislative leaves of absence.

To perform benefit reconciliation and follow up on benefit arrears as required.

To audit and monitor existing leaves and their return from all legislated/non-legislated leaves of

absence upon completion of leave.

To liaise with various departments, including Payroll Services, Administrators and Disability Management, on any long-term leave issues.

To review and audit data entry as required to ensure adherence to data quality and integrity

To provide backup and assistance for other Employee Services Representatives, as required.

To organize and facilitate Leave Information workshops, as required.

To administer and process all SEB plans, including the collection of required documents and calculation of benefit.

To perform other duties as assigned.

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible to the Supervisor, Pension and Benefit, Leaves.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A two year college diploma in human resources management or a related discipline, or equivalent, as approved by the Board, is required.

Minimum two years human resources or related experience is required.

Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and computer skills are required.

Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.

As per the Collective Agreement (A.11.7 and A.11.8), those twelve month employees filling vacancies as a result of a job posting are to remain twelve months at their positions.

Ten month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year.
