DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Officer implements the institution’s recruitment and enrolment plan as defined by Durham College’s SEM framework for the domestic student population.

The role of the Student Recruitment Officer is to develop and conduct a comprehensive recruiting program to meet college enrolment targets. This would include scheduling visits with assigned priority schools, liaising with stakeholders and community agencies; maintaining and presenting up-to-date knowledge of the full-time programs and services of the college.

The incumbent collaborates with the student recruitment team to develop and customize content for presentations, brochures, webinars and leveraging the CRM tool to effectively promote the college and its full-time programs and services.

  • Marketing and Client Support:

  • Conduct a direct and non-direct student recruitment program to successfully promote and generate applications to the full range of full-time college programs.
  • Provides expert product knowledge and maintains ongoing contact with secondary schools province wide.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with teachers and guidance counsellors at assigned priority secondary schools.
  • Organize and participate in system-wide student recruiting activities such as CIP (College Information Program), secondary school visits, and visits to community partners, including making all travel arrangements during this time for rental vehicles, insurance, and accommodations.
  • Meets with prospective students for one-on-one appointments to provide information and guidance on program choice, services and how to apply to a full-time college program.
  • Develop and conduct community presentations, for student recruitment purposes, as requested by secondary schools and special interest groups.
  • Provide program, admission and general college information to a diverse range of prospective students including those from secondary schools and mature learners.
  • Coordinate and conduct events such as open houses, program information nights, campus tours, webinar information sessions and on-campus secondary school visits for prospective students, applicants, parents and guidance counselors.
  • Work with colleagues to develop recruitment and promotional materials such as brochures, OCAS material, posters, and other items as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of full-time programs by liaising with Deans, Program Coordinators, Administrative Coordinators and faculty and attend program and advisory meetings as required.
  • Represent the college or region/province on various committees to collaborate and establish working relationships.
  • Administration

  • Responsible for collecting lead information, inputting and analyzing lead data into CRM system (Salesforce) to communicate in a timely and regular fashion. This includes general follow up, reminders, event invitations, etc.
  • Track activity from customer service channels including events, live chat, email, one-on-one appointments and telephone calls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three-year diploma/degree in marketing, public relations, human resources, advertising, business, sales or employment counselling.
  • A valid G Driver’s license is required.
  • Minimum of three years experience demonstrating excellent customer service, oral and public speaking skills and superior writing ability, creativity and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Tact, integrity, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Confident, personable and able to engage with customers effectively.
  • Well-developed problem solving, decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to complete evening and/or weekend work.
  • A valid G driver’s license in good standing is required.

Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:30 am – 4:30 pm note that some evening and weekend work will be required)
