Job Description


AECOM
is seeking a Strategy Manager to grow the Strategy+ practice in Western Canada.

Job Summary:

Strategy+ is established in Eastern Canada and it’s time to expand our presence. Strategy+ is AECOM’s design-led management consulting studio that operates at the intersection of Business Transformation, Organizational Dynamics and Place Strategy. We blur the lines between strategy, creativity, people and the built environment.

We’re looking for a seller and a doer that is comfortable starting as a relative unknown and developing teams that are sought out for the difference they bring. Success in this role requires strong communication, comfort tackling diverse projects across differing industries, sincere motivation, eagerness to collaborate, and outstanding leadership, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.

You will join our multidisciplinary practice of strategists, organizational designers, change managers, architects, data analysts, organizational psychologists, and urban designers to support projects which encompass world class corporations, agencies, institutions, universities & colleges, and local and federal government.

Once You Are Here You Will

  • Seek to understand AECOM, the markets we play in and identify growth areas
  • Uncover opportunities with existing clients & projects
  • Assemble teams and take a leading role for projects and work streams
  • Hire and develop a team to support you and coach team members to push their thinking and explore what’s possible
  • Be passionate about trying new things rather than focusing on best practices
  • Collaborate with others to hack together new approaches that live at the intersection of multiple disciplines
  • Explore how approaches commonly adopted by corporate strategy and design might inform value creation in the built environment
  • Inspire specialists, architects and engineers through business, strategy and design practices to think and act differently
  • Engage with clients through user research, visualize qualitative and quantitative data, and facilitate workshops to drive new ways of thinking

About You

A T-shaped individual that asks thought provoking questions, are comfortable wading into ambiguous problems and can take ownership, are a critical thinker, and has specialized experience in one or more of the following areas and possesses a broader comfort and ability to work within many of these areas:

  • Management consulting and / or corporate strategy
  • Data analytics & modeling
  • Urban design & planning, functional space programming
  • Architecture and the built environment
  • Change management, human resources, organizational design
  • User research, synthesis of qualitative data and generating insights

You’re comfortable and ready to hit the ground running as soon as you get here and are:

  • Highly collaborative, communicative and a creative team player
  • A creative storyteller
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, open, and creative environment
  • Able to contribute to facilitation of workshops and presentations
  • A critical thinker with persuasive writing skills
  • Familiar with research methodologies and processes
  • Flexible and able to work on more than one project in more than one team

Technically, you are skilled in one or more the following:

  • Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator and InDesign)
  • Revit or other space planning / design CAD systems
  • Web based data analytics, visualization, and GIS
  • Project management, planning, and scheduling
  • Design-thinking, Lean Startup and design-led strategy
  • Business model generation

It would be a bonus if you are:

  • Experienced in entrepreneurship, team / practice building within large consulting firms / organizations
  • Experienced in infrastructure / the built environment
  • Have led or been a part of digital transformation

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, computer science, architecture, urban design / planning, design, or another relevant field and 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
