You can follow lab processes and procedures exactly, enter the associated data reliably and correctly, and discern subtle differences in lab samples, including urinalysis. Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre is a busy facility featuring an Advanced Ambulatory Care service so you can expect some day-to-day variety in your work. Sylvan Lake lab staff provide community collections to patients in nearby long-term care facilities and may also be expected to provide coverage for staff in Eckville Health Centre laboratory. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:2 years' experience in a Medical Laboratory working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Cardiology experience in ECG testing. Experience in urinalysis including microscopic analysis. Equivalencies may be considered. Phlebotomy experience including venipuncture, micropunctures, blood culture collections as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Certification must include a urinalysis component with microscopic practice.
Preferred Qualifications:Registration with CSMLS. Experience using Connect Care Epic. Demonstrated participation in continuing education in a medical laboratory field. Recent experience in cardiology testing including Holter monitor and ECG with MUSE and Cardioday applications. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote teamwork. Familiar with Clinitek Status.
