PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Canadian Building Materials Marketing Lead owns and leads strategic direction of the builder, contractor, and distributor marketing initiatives. This includes developing and executing specific marketing strategies, customer programs and successfully aligning with sales to execute the marketing strategies that meet stated business objectives and drive impactful results for Owens Corning.

This position will partner with building materials leadership including North American strategic marketing leadership, products and programs leadership and sales leadership to leverage alignment on integrated strategies and marketing planning. This position requires strong collaborative skills, strategic vision, and the passion and ability to develop, define, innovate and execute impactful strategies across key initiatives.

The position reports to the Senior Marketing Leader.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead strategy and execution for delivering an exceptional customer experience that maximizes the key initiatives of OC’s building materials business (Fiberglass insulation, mineral wool insulation, roofing and XPS foam), by utilizing customer insights to create impactful value and serve as a key driver of marketing initiatives.

  • Lead and execute actionable customer discovery to determine what strategic marketing elements must be true to best position OC to meet our business objectives and drive impactful sales pull thru.
    • This includes developing strong relationships with customer executive leadership, understanding what maximizes their P&L and a continued long term cultivated partnership that influences the customer to purchase OC building material products.
  • Lead and collaborate with business to align key sales initiatives with outbound marketing tools and programs to create value for the customer and quicker adoption and acceleration of key initiatives by customers.
    • This includes owning strong partnerships with Sales Director, RSL leadership, technical team and ASMs to lead and develop agreed upon P&L goals, measureable metrics relating to sales goals and ROI of marketing elements and programs that result in impactful results for OC.
  • Continuously lead in building an intimate and thorough knowledge of the customer’s customer and the market (their business, product innovation needs and the value that our current and future products deliver to the customer).
    • This includes owning and leading product innovation needs and development of strategic marketing elements and programs that delivers customer business objectives and drives sales with end user.
  • Lead marketing team and agency relationships to execute overall strategic marketing plan.

Lead and own focused MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area), Strategic Marketing Action Plans to Support Business Objectives and Drive Profitable Market Share Growth.

  • Maintain an acute understanding of MSA related data, competitor intelligence and OC’s value proposition and segmentation against competitors and identify opportunities to win in selected MSAs.
    • This includes leading strong relationships with Sales Director, RSL, Technical Team and ASM and presenting strategic MSA marketing plans, Strategic Marketing VP and Sales VP.
  • Align with market-based sales strategy and develop MSA based marketing strategies that contribute to very specific goals for profitability, market share and growth for each of the key Canadian markets.
    • This includes leading development of detailed P&L / ROI metrics for strategic marketing elements and programs that will drive impactful results for OC and OC customers.
    • Marketing Lead will own development of Strategic Marketing Operations Plan and Strategic Plan for Canadian Building Materials.
  • Partner with sales to operate closer to our customers, the work they do, and the challenges they face in a changing market.
    • This includes owning and leading strong partnerships with customer executive leadership, sales and marketing leadership teams and developing detailed pull thru marketing plans that drives impactful sales and share outcomes for OC.
  • Lead marketing team and agency relationships to execute overall MSA strategic plan.
    • Own developing marketing team and integrating into sales teams overall objectives and goals driving impactful results for OC.

Metrics

  • MSA market share, P&L metrics and growth against target objectives developed by Marketing Leader
  • Customer adoption and utilization rates for programs, tools and other MSA related activities
  • Metrics for continued “Test & Learn” programs for new product innovation and marketing programs
  • Measureable aligned sale metrics developed with customer and OC sales leadership


Lead and own execution of Customer Program Strategy and Product Launches

  • Own collaborating with the business to develop, drive and align key strategies with customers.
    • This includes owning and developing strategic customer programs that are consistent with the market needs, other current or future project initiatives.
  • Owns ensuring agency partners are aligned to best position OC to provide the best strategic/tactical support in a financially responsible manner that delivers measurable results.
    • This includes owning the overall agency relationship and maximizing cost and impactful results.
  • Leads establishing a clear vision and common goals for current future project work in partnership with Building Materials Sales and the Products Management teams.
    • This includes driving strong relationships with executive leadership and courting strong bond with OC senior leaders in sales, product and marketing.
  • Owns analyzing external and execution risks, their potential impact on the business results and the definition of a mitigation plan, which addresses the risks with identified actions.
    • This includes having a strong executive presence both internally and externally in communicating plans.
  • Leads the management, launch and introduction of new products into the residential business. Ensure that marketing strategies are in place to effectively commercialize new products in respective markets and customers.
    • This includes working across divisions at a senior executive level, being comfortable presenting and communicating with division presidents, VPs, directors and other leaders on product launch plans both internally and externally.
  • This requires leading and motivating marketing team and agency relationships that executes overall plan that drives impactful results of OC.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, product management or related field. MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience in marketing including traditional and strategic marketing execution, PR, social, digital.
  • Ability to travel 20-30%


EXPERIENCE

  • A track record of developing a marketing strategy and programs that deliver quantifiable impactful revenue growth and measurable ROI.
  • Possess an understanding and have experience with digital marketing, branding, project planning and management.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working in a complex matrix environment with multiple distribution channels and influencers.
  • Executing business and marketing strategy for a sizeable business segment.
  • Exceptional developer of talent and exemplifies the standard for self learning and growth.
  • Experience effectively managing budgets.
  • Building Material product experience preferred.
  • Experience in B2B and B2C preferred.
